採斜紋邊法編製而成的藺草蓆，編工細密，應該是鋪在臥蹋睡覺時使用的草蓆；根據採集記錄，這件草蓆是1882年英國領事官員Thomas Watters於1882年在淡水取得，但編製藺草蓆是中部大甲、苑裡地區婦女重要的手工藝。1960年由英國皇家植物園移轉而來。

Woven mat made of rush grass (Cyperus tegetiformis ROXB) in the Ta-ka district (central Taiwan) from rush grass grown in the district. The rush grass woven mats were famous Taiwanese commercial products and popularly used in people’s daily life in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This object was transferred from Kew Gardens in 1960.
