This necklace is threaded of a string of 35 big yellow glass beads and a few smaller red and black glass beads. These yellow glass beads are in a tubular shape, which are popularly called as ‘gold beads’ because they glitter a golden shining color due to a thin gold foil filling in the middle of glaze.

Although there is no clear record indicates the acquisition time, according to Mackay’s biography, these artifacts should be collected from the 1870s to the 1880s; and most likely were brought back to Toronto by Mackay between 1893 to 1895, and later donated to Knox College where he studied. According to Knox College record, Mackay collections were donated in 1894, and transferred to the ROM in 1915 due to the relocation of Knox College.
